Hope Pattengale, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hope Pattengale is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has a passion for working with children and families as both a facilitator of healing and a guide on the path toward creating stronger relationships. As a practitioner, Hope believes that the ability for a person to make change starts internally, but often requires professional support to take the next steps to reach their goals.
Hope has worked with children in various capacities for most of her life and is inspired by their curiosity and resilience. When asked about why she loves her job, Hope shared that;
I never could have imagined that “when I grew up” I’d have the privilege of becoming a children’s therapist. I am awestruck by my own great fortune that I have the ability to pour into the future our world through my work as facilitator of growth and change in young minds.
In her work with children, Hope strives to utilize a family systems approach which involving not only the child, but also his/her siblings and parents through Child-Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy. In her clinical work, Hope has found that Filial Therapy is particularly effective when working with children who experience anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues as it focuses on enhancing the parent-child relationship. Since Filial Therapy focuses on parent-child relationships, it can also be utilized as an early intervention to protect against future problems.
Hope’s areas of specialization include working with children who have experienced trauma, adoptive families, child behavioral concerns, and parenting.
Hope graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, in 2014 with her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Hope has worked in the field of community mental health in Anchorage, Alaska since 2011. Prior to joining Coastal Wellness and Counseling, LLC, Hope worked as an Early Childhood Clinician at Denali Family Services.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Hope is able to bill most major health insurances, though Medicaid/Medicare, and Tricare are not accepted.
