Nicole Farr is a Master of Social Work student at Grand Canyon University, completing her internship with Coastal Wellness & Counseling. As a lifelong Alaskan, Nicole brings a deep appreciation for the resilience and strength of her community. She is dedicated to supporting children, families, and individuals through a compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based approach.
Nicole’s professional journey has been rooted in guidance and care for children and their families. Before beginning her graduate studies, she owned and operated both a preschool and a daycare, where she gained firsthand experience in child development and the importance of nurturing safe, supportive learning environments. For the past 13 years, Nicole has worked as a pediatric dental hygienist, building strong relationships with children and parents, further developing her skills in fostering trust, comfort, and positive connections in care settings. Her unique professional background allows her to bring a holistic perspective to her work as a social work intern. She understands the many ways family dynamics, early development, and community support intersect to shape overall health and wellness.
Nicole is excited to be learning and growing within the Coastal Wellness team. Her internship provides the opportunity to deepen her understanding of group and play therapy. She looks forward to building meaningful therapeutic connections with the individuals and families she serves throughout her internship, and through Filial play with families in the spring semester.
Outside of her professional life, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Whether exploring Alaska’s natural beauty or enjoying quick getaways to sunnier destinations, she values time spent with family, adventure, and making lasting memories.
