Katya’s passion for mental wellness started when she took a psychology class in high school. That spark led to her graduating from the University of Alaska, Anchorage in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.

Katya’s career has provided counseling services and program supervision within many meaningful environments in our community to include the support of people with disabilities, residential treatment for children and adolescents, and community-based therapy for foster parents and birth parents seeking reunification with their children.

Katya’s work history developed a strong background in her current attachment-basedand strength-based approach to therapy. She builds upon that foundation with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) as primary approaches, seeking to support insight and growth in clients who experience depression, dissociation, distress arising from trauma, attachment issues, and/or anxiety.

An avid learner committed to remaining current in her field, Katya has completed trainings in The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, IFS, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The depth of her experience and study have afforded her a capacity to introduce a wide
variety of interventions that fit her client’s needs. Katya’s professional guides and mentors include Esther Perel, Richard Schwartz, Janina Fisher, Dolores Mosquera and Collin Ross.

Katya believes that people are most likely to heal when they connect with a counselor in a way that motivates their efforts to be their best self. She meets clients where they are and encourages their patience and hard work throughout the therapeutic process.
