Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Prentiss Pemberton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been practicing in Anchorage for the past two and a half decades. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Flagler College in 1989 and earned his Masters in Social Work from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in 1999.

Throughout his career he has served as a medical social worker for the rehabilitation unit at Alaska Regional Hospital, a clinical therapist at an adolescent residential treatment program, and spent ten years as a therapeutic foster parent for delinquent teens. He has also served as a crisis intervention specialist at a community mental health center and has thrived in his work in private practice.

Prentiss is passionate in his conviction that each person has the right to self-determination. As a clinician he believes we are all capable of changing maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns when provided with the skilled therapeutic support and guidance. Prentiss specializes in working with teens and adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. His work with couples and families is informed by his training in the Gottman Method and Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy (RLT).

When he is not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys pursuing the outdoor adventures that brought him to Alaska over twenty years ago.
